My least helpful un-instruction is the teacher repeating the exact same phrase that I didn't understand seconds ago as if the repetition will somehow magically stir in meaning. [Beloved did this a lot]

I have learned to stop and say, "Repeating it isn't helping me understand what you mean." Or, "Yes, I heard but I don't get it."
