It's a gift from the gods in Wraithvine's case, and they don't do refunds.

I would imagine it to be a very slow evaporation unless it was actively worked upon to dissipate. Otherwise, you'd get ever-increasing areas of null magic.

That said, they've also become a necessity as pictured here.
