There were less slurs when I was a kid [or rather, less words I'd get a clip on the ear for saying] so I had to learn how bad they were on my own.

As a parent, I can understand how one hangman type [the sort of kid who enjoys manipulating others into trouble] can mislead a kid who hasn't learned better. So... give them a chance to learn better.
