What you wear is a statement. Especially if you go to Renfairs -- Knitnan.

Sparknight began as a foundry for peace between Nanogh and Mundis Mortalidae. The Plane of Magic and the Mortal Plane. The mortal nobility were charged with attending by invitation in their most extravagant wear. The Arch-Elves of Nanogh were charged with the lighting that would show it off for a maximum of aesthetic appreciation.

The mortals either didn't know or chose to ignore that the Sprites providing that light were pests in Nanogh.

What mattered most to the attendants were the messages their clothing told to anyone who knew how to read it. Many who attended wore their familial wealth on their bodies. Glittering and gleaming in the Faerie light. For centuries, the nobles there weighed each other's worth by how many priceless gemstones they wore as both clothing and jewellery. Until the reign of the Thrice-Sworn King.

Few gems at all adorned his coat, vest, trews or hose. What few there were present only highlighted the embroidery done on every panel of his garments. Displaying not his wealth, but the wealth of his realm in the shape of the products it exported.

You are only proud of yourselves, his clothing said to them all. I am proud of the people of my realm. He didn't need anything more than his ring, the diadem clamped to his horns, and the seemingly simple lacquered Favour right by his heart.

He broke protocol to assist his pregnant Princess-Consort down the stairs to the main ballroom. She, too, was dressed as comparatively simply. Owing to her expectation, there was a lot more space to display the Kingdom's pride, including the loose vestlike garment she wore with pokes embedded into its make. The ladies of the event swarmed to know about it.

The King, always attentive to his wife, turned his back on the gentlemen of the chamber. Displaying the eyes of a peacock's tail added into the braids of his hair.

No matter where you go, I am watching you, the feathers said.

It took the attendees quite some time to notice that both the Thrice-Sworn King and his loving wife were wearing each other's bloodline colours in their hair. The King with ribbons of Bellarin green and gold, and the Princess-Consort with ribbons of Whitekeep red and white.

It did not help the confidence of any potential foes that this King was known to assassinate his opposing crowns by his own hand. They were very thankful that weapons were not permitted at the ball, until they remembered the King's Martialist training. The Hellkin's very body was a weapon, and it had clearly not gone to ruin with domesticity.

However, King by Conquest, Kormwind Arachis Felbourne Whitekeep, ninth of his name, had better manners than most other nobles present.

Which was why all accounts of the Thrice-Sworn King's first appearance at Sparknight were glowing with praise for his congeniality. And why it caused a violent re-adjustment of Noble fashion henceforth. Including the new and revolutionary "wearable poke-ette".
