Scramble learns his time magic allows him to 'see' briefly through time. It's allowed them to avoid a lot of trouble. -- BKF
It took months to spot it, on their way from one place to another, because it was very subtle. And it's terribly difficult to spy other time magic when time magic is already employed. In the case of Scramble, it was reacting to situations slightly before they unfolded.
The gap between reaction and stimulus was getting lighter by fractions of a second.
Wraithvine could try to curse hirself for missing it for so long, but then ze asked, "How did you do that?"
Scramble, having fended off the territorial squirrel before it could attack from behind, said, "Do what?"
"You reacted to the attack before it began. How did you do that?"
"I did?" Scramble boggled. "I just... saw it happening? I thought it was your training doing me good."
"I think it might have," said Bibrid. "You've been practicing your time jumping. That's been stretching and growing in power. So other abilities have to be stretching with it. Such as your ability to see a few seconds into the future."
"Well... It's not really sight. It's... it's a feeling? Like I can look at something and just know if it's going to be a threat? It's hard to describe. I thought everyone could do that."
"Well," said Wraithvine. "Today we have all learned. The next issue is how to test and train it. In this world, any advantage is a good one."
Scramble turned to catch a pine cone just before Chance threw it.
The little Hellkin yawped in shock, then laughed and jumped about it.
"Darling-dear," chided Bibrid, "we talk to people about our ideas before we act. You could have hurt someone."
Chance was suitably cowed when they crept up to Scramble and said, "Sorry for throwing things."
"As long as you don't do it again without permission, I forgive you," Scramble allowed.
