“As the evil wizard succumbs to his wounds, with his final breath,
He summons a Rust Devil” -- Anon Guest
"Wait. What?"
"Rust. Devil. An infernal variant of the rust monster." The DM at the table, Yaz, grinned. She was radiating smugness. "They have some hefty fire and heat resistance."
Petra, the former clever clogs who heated the Big Bad's skeleton, glared across the table as the rest of the players laughed and jeered. "You piece of shit. I love it. Okay. A challenge." They immediately went into their paperwork, looking things up.
"Minmax your way out of this, fire spec," taunted Lothi, who played the Wizard. "I don't have any rustable armour on. Or rustable weapons, come to think of it." Ze got up to get more snacks, since this was going to take a while.
Kallo, playing the Rogue, quoted, "People like me are ass holes..." He laughed at his own joke.
Petra was flipping through their notes. "No, that went into the volcano. We handed that off. Oh shit! I still have that gemstone of elemental command!"
"Do you?" said Kallo. "I thought I pickpocketed that off you and sold it for a profit." He dove into his own notes. "I swear I did that..."
From the kitchen, Lothi shouted, "Y'all want yoghurt pots? Fruit? Pretzels?"
Yaz recited, "CHO-CO-LATE," in her best eldritch voice. "I demand tribute in the form of sweets and fizzy drink."
"Uuuhhh... there's a four-pack of Bundy red soda in here."
"Excellent. One of those will do lovely, ta."
The debate between Petra and Kallo was escalating into a full on argument about what their character would do.
Yaz took a deep breath and looked up her own notes. Time for the conflict resolution part of the game cycle.
