Two good-luckers decide to come together play poker. The game lasts nearly a record length before they call it a draw. The watchers enjoyed it greatly! -- Anon Guest
[AN: I know fuck all about Poker. Also there's way more than two Luckers]
There are events that exist only for the spectacle. People gathered from all over just to see it happen live.
The Luckers were having a Poker match.
There were no prizes, because these were all Good Luckers. The favoured of fortune. They couldn't lose. Which, when you got to think about it, made it almost impossible to win. Which was why it was such a spectacle.
"Four aces."
"Straight flush, King high."
"Ditto."
"Same."
The crowd cheered anyway. There were infinite odds against four players having hands like that. They used mechanical shuffling machines, but it didn't matter.
Every single table of four players, the results were the same. Some with the straight flush had the same suit.
It was ridiculously impossible, but it was, somehow, also hilarious.
They were raising funds to help the latest throng of Deregger survivors. A horde too numerous and too pitiful for the CRC's best resources to keep up with.
"This is getting dull," sighed Lucker Drost. "How about we switch to Asshole."
"Doubles, triples, and aces all around?"
"At least it relies on strategy to some extent."
"Meh. I wanna play Fizzbin."
"Super Calvinball rules?"
"Ultra Calvinball rules," grinned Drost.
Poker was dull when everyone was a winner. However, games where the rules were wont to change on the random circumstances of their surroundings.
The crowd went wild.
