[AN: Watch it. Be amazed]
Humans may not be the only species who have weaponised music, but they are the only ones who have weaponised it so effectively. Many have known the sheer horror of thousands of Humans with their voices raised in one song. Scarier still is one Human with some impressive vocal skills.
Soprano is just one of them. The ability to project is another. Throat singing, however, is one of the more horrifying ones. It's bad enough to be in combat and facing off against one of the more terrifying Deathworlders on the Galactic rolls. Then they start growling at you.
It takes a moment to realise that this menacing rumble is coming out in a tune. That it's emerging in words. By then, the dancing has started. It's not just that it's a rhythmic display of co-ordination and fitness, it's also that it's a rhythmic display of the multitude of fighting moved the Human could use to kill you.
Small wonder that so many flee at the first sight of a Human. Many don't linger long past the singing and dancing, but this one did. One out of the many who simply turned tail and ran, who stood transfixed. Their weapon fell from their manipulating limbs and they just stood agog.
The others had abandoned them there, and the Human could tell that they didn't care. Human Hyu stopped just short of striking a blow, reluctant to hurt someone who was unarmed and currently unable to defend themself. They stood, stone still, for a breathless handful of seconds.
The transfixed former pirate was still staring in wonderment.
Human Hyu said, "You being alone. You not fighting?"
The ex-pirate said, "Self ready for dying."
The Human lowered their fist. Offered they're hand. "No. Is not ready for dying. Is ready for learning. Self teaching. You becoming better."
The newcomer introduced themself as Krez. They had known no other life than piracy and -frankly- betrayal from their former crewmates. They were currently overcome with a Fan-Being[1] moment. "You... being amazement. Is certain self worthy?"
Human Hyu wanted to say, You're alone, you're helpless, and the people you thought you could rely on just dropped you like a sack of offal. You need this. That was too complicated to fit into GalSimple, so they just said, "Yes. Self certain."
[1] A more misogynistic term is "fangirl". Let's make it bygone and non-derogatory.
