There are plans that are works of art. There are other plans, much like this one, that seem to have been produced by wiping one's bodily waste expulsions all over the blueprint page. There's half-assed plans and... whatever this was.
It was equal parts improvisation, desperation, innovation, and flat-out perspiration. After the lingering echoes of all the explosions died down and they were safe in the middle of a host of Mediks, Throq finally found the power of their own words under their control once more.
"That," Throq announced, "has to be the stupidest, least-thought-out, idiotic, dumb-ass move of all time!"
Human Dez said, "Thanks, but it's bold of you to assume I've reached peak dumbass."
Throq had been through a similar cascade of statements from Human Dez before. They decided to short-cut the conversation options. "Oh yes. You still have to explain your decisions to Shift-Captain Snei."
"That's gonna take some A-class acrobatics, not gonna lie," said Human Dez. "On the plus side, I got everyone on our side out and flipped one at those raiders. Not gonna get our research now. Heheheh."
Throq breathed the aggravated sigh of someone for whom that was not entirely the point. "Neither," they said, "can we."
There was a moment of stunned silence and an, "Oh shit," from Human Dez. Then a far more excited, "Oh shit! I remembered the last time! Flakk! My suit has a backup unit. Pretty sure it has up to ninety percent of the most recent stuff, depending on when I set the backup clock." She used her only uninjured limb to tap a Medik on their arm. "Keep the suit! It's got a backup unit with the base research! Stat! No recycling!"
The Medik quickly passed that along. "Where is the unit located?" they asked.
"Where else? Between the shoulder-blades. I put the back in backup!" Human Dez laughed at this until she passed out from the tranquilizers.
As ever, she was right. It truly was bold of Throq to assume Human Dez had reached peak dumbass.
