In the depts of the Archive, a Song was found. It was made Public property.
Naturally, Pax Humanis found a good use for it....
(Sorry, Not Sorry!) ;-) -- Mike

War is an endless cycle. Tactics circle around and come blasting back from the past. In such cases, the siege turns an impasse into an endurance test. Of course, there are strategies to make certain a siege ends faster than the defending side expected.
Tactics that include flooding the base, attacking the supplies, sapping the walls, and psychological warfare. Only some of this has been banned by the Cogniscent Rights Committee. As far as battle tactics are concerned, sound assaults are a potential grey zone. The volume must not exceed a certain amount of decibels, and the frequency limit has been tested against all known tolerances.
Thus, when Pax Humanis has a siege, they have an approved playlist for the sonic assaults. This does not stop the besiegers from applying their own variations. They did maintain the songs on the list, according to the very letter of the law. The variation was in the spirit.
"I'm so happy! Aha! Happy go lucky me! I just go my way/ Living everyday! I don't worry! Worrying don't agree,/ Things that bother you/ Never bother me!"
The assembled forces of Pax Humanis waited. They were very good at waiting. They had trained for this, and they also had special technology in their livesuits that negated the effects of the sonic bombardment. They had to listen for a minimum of two hours, by the letter of the law, but they could choose how and when they caught the very edges of what their enemy was forced to hear.
"Wasn't this on two hours ago?" asked one of the Marines waiting for the enemy to crack.
"Same song," said the shift DJ. "It's the ten-hour mix of Living in the Sunlight, Loving in the Moonlight by Tiny Tim."
"Holy shit, who came up with that one?"
"It's one from the archives. Some Gonzo[1] decided to do it to themselves."
"Uh. How long ago?"
"Early twenty-first century. So, pre-Shattering."
The enquirer laughed. "Damn, we got us some crazy-ass ancestors. What's next on the playlist?"
"Rickrolls as extended by early-stage learning algorithms."
"Oof. Are you sure we're not the bad guys?"
The DJ gave the enquirer a withering glare. "Since when do we care about that?"
