Putin has "warned" (read: threatened) us Finns not to join NATO for years and till this day the general opinion on whether to join NATO or not has been about 50/50 but mostly tilted to NOT joining NATO. And mostly not because Russia has said so but because we just would like to be neutral like Sweden.

That is, until now. We just do not like bullies. And that's my opinion too. I've always felt that we don't need NATO since we've been independent (from the Russia) for over 100 years and also managed to stay independent despite the Russia and Germanys horrible moves during the WW2. But as I've said, we and I personally do not like bullies who are much bigger than we are and hilariously say that they feel threatened by a tiny state like Ukraine or Finland if they as a sovereign nation think of joining NATO or do join NATO. That is a complete bullshit excuse. The real reason is that Putin just wants Russia's old borders back, the ones that were over 100 years ago.

We've lived beside this dictator and his threats for years and for years most of us Finns just thought that he wouldn't dare to attack us. But things have changed and my personal opinion is that the fact that do we (Finland) join NATO or not, ultimately has no affect on his decision on continuing the war or starting one with Finns.

So the real dilemma here is that do we Finns want to return to being a part of Russia, perhaps something similar that existed over 100 years ago (Grand Duchy of Finland) and be under Russia or do we want to stay independent and fight for it, even if it meant loosing lives like in the 1940's.

And then, isn't it better to aid Ukraine now, before Putin has invaded them completely and ready to move on, than to wait and perhaps be in the future the same situation where Ukraine is now, countries sending arms but no people to help fight. Like it was in WW2 which we call the Winter War and the Continuation War. We, us Finns, fought alone. A terrible cost of our independence but we are still Finns living in Finland.
