Welcome to the Second Edition of "The @NewsTeem Digest"

You might be asking yourself why I decided to change the name from "The Inquiring Times" to "The @NewsTeem Digest". There are two reasons.

"@NewsTeem Digest" is more fair to the writers on the team, and less pretentious.
I've decided to open up to linking other excellent posts by people who aren't a part of the team.

So, I will include posts by other Steemains who aren't part of the team, as well as posts which I'm the Creative Director of, and are written by members of the @NewsTeem.

Before we get on to "The NewsTeem Digest", there are a few things that I would like to cover.

We have Two New Members!!!!!!!

Welcome @mooncryption, and @shello!!!

If you've been keeping close to the pulse of the Steemiverse @mooncryption is a rising star. He is very hip to the cryptosphere and on the pulse as far as all matters related to cryptocurrency goes. He's a great writer, and I am very proud to announce his being part of the team.

@shello is an awesome human being, a great writer \ formatted, etc. So while she hasn't published her first piece with us, I can tell you that it's already excellent and beautiful. We're just waiting on a few more details before going live with it. She's, also a wonderfully talented artist, so I'm looking forward to some new art for the team coming up in the near future.

Abuse Mitigation

Briefly, if you are curious. One of the Major topics we cover is "Abuse Mitigation". I call it that, because it's impossible to prevent abuse of the rewards pool. It is only possible to make it harder for people to abuse. The reason I decided to cover that topic so thoroughly, is a post by @stellabelle where she talked about how we needed to support those fighting abuse. So, that took a front seat as far as "Steemit News" is concerned. We will continue to address these topics as they develop, however, I am grateful to say that we've almost got all of the major players thoroughly covered.

"As an academic, plagiarism is something I take very seriously. Thus, once I started watching people post, it became pretty clear to me that Steemit was doomed to fail if it didn't have some way to tackle abuse. I recognized that investors would want no part in a site that is best known for plagiarism, DMCA requests, and a dumpster of copy-paste-everything. But I also recognized the potential; if we could curb abuse, and actually find a new decentralized way to reward content creators that breaks the chains of the traditional publishing route, we would have something special. So, I started investing my time in the original steemitabuse channel in slack... and the rest is history."

This guide was written by me to make it easier for me to help new users to the site. There are a number of tips, tricks, and a wealth of information contained in the links within it.

@inquiringtimes - I won a ticket to SteemFest

This is the reason I pushed to get this edition published. I want to be covering @SteemFest topics after I get to portugal.. no need to have a backlog of @newsteem posts. Better to get it published right now.

Ideally, I will be doing voice recorded interviews on site, and I will have members of @newsteem helping to edit them and post about them while I'm away and not able to do as much in that regard

One major aspect to @steemfest that I want to announce is about the hackathon on Day 1. I would like to get collaboration with the people present at that hackathon to work with other members who are not present, and I'm sure I can facilitate something like that.

For anyone who works with me that's not aware of those details, hopefully you feel ok about this. :p Too late, already said it to the blockchain :joy:
