Very comprehensive look at this new installment!

Honestly though you would have nothing to worry about even if your wife had seen any spoilers for the original game. Like you pointed out this "remake" is all about changing the original story. I'd say it's practically unrecognizable from the old tone and purpose so she'd be in for a brand new ride alongside you. As for us older fans, we're going to be stuck in that unenviable position of constantly being reminded about the old story and then shown all the changes that were made. I haven't made it through the whole thing yet but I wasn't a fan of Aeris and Sephiroth being manipulators of this story which started last time. It would have been nice if this was some kind of alternate universe sequel that followed the remake. That way we could just look at it like a spin-off.

The fanservice has definitely gotten more out of hand too but I think that's the fanbase's own fault. Have you seen all the custom outfits players have been able to hack into the previous installment? It might be SE is just doing what they think the fans want.

But at the end of the day it is FFVII and we're still seeing all of our old features is super modern high resolution. So it can't be all bad. I'm just wondering how far removed this new ending will be from the original and if SE is trying to lead it into something.
