Me: Hey, you are Chetan Bhagat!

CB: (smiles) Yeah. Yeah, I am.

Me: I read three of your novels. I am a big, big fan (with a hint of sarcasm).

CB: (detecting the sarcasm, puts on a serious expression) Are you going to tell me that they were the three mistakes of your life?

Me: No, no, I am serious. I love the way you develop your characters, the totally unpredictable plot lines and most of all, your amazing sense of humour.

CB: (the smile is back) Oh, thank you! You know, it's not easy. Some people think that I just manipulate young readers' vulnerabilities by churning out adolescent love stories. But not one of them could write a book to save their lives! And they dare criticise my books!

Me: Yeah! That's absolutely unacceptable! And you are much more than just a novelist. You are political now!

CB: Yeah, that's something that's always interested me. I am considering getting into mainstream politics.

Me: If your tweets are anything to go by, you will make an excellent politician!

CB: (laughs) Thanks!

Me: But please don't let the politics stop you from writing books!

CB: Sure, no problem!

The lift arrives at my floor.

Me: Okay then! It was great meeting you. Btw, Happy 1st of April!

It awas only my fiction nothing serious though!!
