It is very important to learn programming the right way from good resources so as to keep your interest in programming intact.

GeeksforGeeks | A computer science portal for geeks : A very good collection of problems.
Sphere Online Judge (SPOJ) : A very good archive of competitive coding problems. I solved around 100 problems on this website and then got quite comfortable in programming.
Coding Interview Questions : A very good website for programming interview preparation.
Udacity - Free Online Classes & Nanodegrees and Coursera | Online Courses From Top Universities. Join for Free : Have good online courses.

Algorithm Design by Jon Kleinberg and Eva Tardos : Very good for algorithms.
Algorithms by Robert Sedgewick and Kevin Wayne : Quite good for learning data structures and algorithms, especially for beginners.
Cracking the coding interview by Gayle Laakmann : A good book for interview preparation.
Introduction to Algorithms by Thomas Cormen : Some people call it the Bible of DS and Algo. A very good book for in depth understanding and also involves complex mathematics.
