A couple of days back I was listening to a podcast and this person made this very wonderful statement. Are we Caring for people or are we Carrying people. It made me think about my own ways and approach towards some people in my life. In our life we have many people that we want to care for but from caring when we start carrying them we do not realize that. Recently one of my cousin is going through a divorce, when it all started I was feeling sad for her and I wanted to extend my support to her. I called her to stay with me for few days, she is a very docile person. Sometimes I feel she does not have a voice of her own, when she came to my home, I knew it is for few days but then I started feeling like I had to attend to her all the time. She would not even take her meals without me. If I would watch TV, she would watch, if I would eat then only she would eat, if she wants to eat an ice-cream, she will eat only if I eat, she would not want to do anything without me. I can understand she needs emotional support but I actually started feeling that from caring for her, I had started carrying her. I started feeling confined in my own space. I too have my own problems in life and I am not the person who will share my problem with anyone, so when the opposite person throws everything on me, I feel drained out. Right now I am in that situation. And possibly this podcast was one way of Universe telling me to draw boundaries on even caring for people. I get carried away in emotions when I listen to other people problems but that in turn some times back fires on me.
