Introduction
Modern technology has done more good in replacing human effort to get work done. Machines are invented that aids solve problems and the computer system is one of them. This article explains basics of computer.

What is a Computer?
A computer is an electronic machine that accepts data ,processes and stores it , and give the result known as information.

Computer as an electronic machine means it operates with the use of electrical power. e.g direct- current, generators e.t.c

Computer accepts your data known as input. Input is been sent to the computer when ever you press any button of the machine for a particular operation.

Input devices such as the mouse and keyboard, scanner are used to send in data to the computer system.
Peripherals of a computer
The parts that makes up a computer systems are called computer pheripherals.
The following are computer pheripherals. they are;
All pheripherals are connected to the system unit.

1. Mouse
   The mouse is an input device for sending commands to the system unit. These commands operates the data we had given the system.
   It consist of two buttons namely;
   (a). Right button.
   (b). Left button.
   modern mouse has a roller in between the buttons.

1. Keyboard
   The keyboard is an an input device used for sending in data in form of text, numbers or characters into the system unit.

1. Monitor
   The monitor is one of the pheripheral that display activities of the system user.

1. System Unit
   The system unit is the centre for processing your data and storing it.
   It also instructs the pheripherals on operations to carryout.
   The system unit is also referred to as the "brain" of the computer.

1. Speakers
   Speakers helps to amplify the volume of sound in music or videos.

2. Copy Machine
   Copy machine helps to duplicate copies of documents. it can duplicate text documents and picture documents.

1. Printer
   Printer helps to produce hard copies of documents in the computer.
   It is called soft copy when it's in the system.

1. Uniterrupted Power Supply
   Uniterrupted Power Supply also known as the UPS serves as a power support to the system. Should in case of power failure the system will not trip of immediately as it can cause harm to your system.
