Earlier this week, specifically on Friday morning, I journeyed down to Lagos from my base, Akure for a wedding of a familiar person. Even though it was the first time I was going to meet the person, I had to do it because the bride who made me came is my girlfriend's younger sister. I have to continually let them know in their family that I care about all of them and not just my girlfriend.
I could not come to their house straight up because they were many and it would be impolite to come stay in their house for the first time I was going to meet them. So I went to my cousin's place which was a bit closer to the church where the wedding took place and also the reception venue. It was nice to have seen my cousin after about half a year.
On Saturday which was the wedding day, I dressed up and after getting some descriptions of the venue from my people, I located it. Though a bit stressful.
The wedding was done with the normal routine of the church.
Oaths were taken, vows were shared and two were joined to be one.
It was a lovely experience as I even felt like getting married but it wasn't my time yet.
The wedding was concluded in a period of an hour, thirty minutes. I met the many people I had anticipated to meet. We had pictures were taken and in some minutes everyone left for the reception venue.

The reception is usually the party of every wedding occasion in Nigeria. This one was not an exception. The reception was a bit delayed because of the delayed arrival of the couple who were the reason for the gathering.
When the couple arrived, the reception took an agenda. The couple danced in with a standing ovation by everyone present. An opening prayer and a speech by the chairman followed. After which the couples cut the cake. The friends of the couple danced with them followed by the bride's family and the the groom's family. Gradually, the reception came to a close with a vote of thanks from the Groom.
This was how I spent my weekend.
