Whenever we talk about or refer to bullying, we tend to think about the verbal and physical harm caused by peers; that is, between students. However, there is a reality that has remained in the shade during all this time; and that for certain circumstances, we have avoided and even forgotten. This is the harassment suffered by students by their teachers; what is known by the term "teacher-student harassment".

Many of you will consider this argument to be nonsense; since, how can a teacher harass a student? It would be unheard of, do not you think? Given the situation, let me tell you that this is a totally true reality, and that thousands of students from all over Spain suffer this setback in silence.

Teaching-student harassment, as its name indicates, occurs when a teacher, usually full of frustration and everyday problems, tries to preserve himself and alleviate his misfortune by denigrating or publicly humiliating his students; and, in more extreme cases, attacking them physically, which is regrettable. These, persuaded by their prerogative as teachers, may even even coerce schoolchildren to keep quiet and not complain about the events, either to their parents or in chief.

Unfortunately, many years ago, I experienced this problem in my old school; when my plastic teacher, not knowing how to draw, laughed at me and humiliated me in front of my classmates who also bothered and humiliated to a lesser extent. In the same way, his partner did it with other students (I have witnessed it); what caused that years later it was demanded (by some progenitor) and dismissed of the scholastic center.

The incident happened with this lady; My mother, a former student of the school, decided to go to talk to the director and the heads of study to complain about this event. These, not leaving their astonishment (or so it seemed), made call this teacher, which denied everything stated; which caused that during the rest of the course, it continued bothering me even more, even threatening me with suspending the subject. Given the situation, and as in most cases of bullying; the management and the head of studies decided to wash their hands in this matter.

It is very satisfying to know that we are finally aware of the true importance of bullying, taking measures to avoid it and eradicate it. However, I believe that associations against bullying, the government (which has provided a telephone number to help people who suffer it) and even some television programs such as Mr. Jesús Vázquez should take this aspect into account. They always ask the young people to denounce their aggressor and not to shut up when they suffer harassment from their peers, which is very good. But what about the young people who are harassed by their teachers? The term Anglo-Saxon, "bullying" encompasses all types of harassment produced in the school setting, not just those produced by students.
