provided I'm to achieve a distance of 100km and the fuel in my car tank can only take me a distance of about 92km.

One step at a time,I will start the 92km journey though the journey is at 100km,I believe before the journey is complete I should be able to see a fuel station where I can buy fuel and put it inside my fuel tank and be able to complete the journey...the only thing which could cause issues for me is when there is no money to buy fuel...
