Very insightful. It is sad that sometimes people succumb to mental illness and no one around them sees it in time to prevent them from falling all the way down. I hope that people are paying more attention to their loved ones these days and checking in on the ones who don't live with them. A lot of people have had their mental barriers broken down by this pandemic and the lockdowns to try to stop it.
I heard someone say the other day she is struggling to want to live because the one good thing for her under lockdown was the comfort of her pet in the absence of any human contact, and then the pet died. She knows in her reason that she wants to live and that it makes no sense to want to die because a pet has died, but she also knows that her desire is a sign she is grieving, which is a type of temporary mental illness. She knows she has to reach out for help if she starts thinking about addressing a temporary problem with a permanent solution. But not everyone has such self-awareness, nor people they can reach out to who will help them through the rough parts.
