Really interesting read on the duality of our economy, increasingly towards a "gigging" or independent contractor-type structure. The challenges outlined, hit close to home, as someone who basically left university and started a career of many different gigs. The article does an excellent job of illustrating the many challenges of this type of dual economy, where many of us have a few "side hustles." I guess it will be up to us to find solutions (similar to the way Hello Albert did) that consider the best interests of the worker and find ways to help give them some stability. Unfortunately, I worry that despite the good intentions of many of these companies and apps, that nature of capitalism is such, that efficiency will more often than not trump morality and many people will be left behind.
