Hello all you game lovers, I recently released part 2 of Frostpunk and it was more appreciated than I expected. Normally the next chapter would be delayed due to my internet problems, but the fact that so many people liked it made me feel like I had to do something and I came to a cafe to write my post. Thank you for your interest, your comments encourage me to write. Without further ado, let's move on to the game.
A little reminder of where we left off last time, it was cold and one of the people got frostbite, we had to treat him and I ordered the man who didn't want his leg amputated to have his leg amputated by force. It may sound harsh but I had to do it to keep him alive. You can find out more details by clicking here and reading my previous post. Also, don't forget to let me know in the comments if you want one of these people to be named after you in the next scenario. So far about 5-6 people have asked for their name to be used and it looks like it's going to be fun.
On the evening of the 6th day I also decided to make a health center because as you can see below there are a lot of sick people. I don't really know what made them sick. Most of them work in warm environments and I didn't send people to work who normally work in the cold. Maybe the people our scouts found got sick from the cold before we built a house for them. I can't think of any other logical explanation.
This is great news! Our scouts have found an automaton. I know what it is because I've played the game before. It's a machine and you can make it work for you. So if you find something like this, never disassemble it. Send it to your city and let it work for you. It doesn't work as efficiently as humans. It works at 60% efficiency unless you upgrade it, but they are great because they work around the clock and they are not affected by the cold.
Finally there are some good people and they are grateful for what I do. A note found in the hospice I opened for amputees. They thank me for taking care of them in between all my work. You're welcome, man, I swear I do everything for your sake.
There is an economy tab in the game and you can see the production and consumption data for every resource in the game. What you see right now is the table for food. There are also tables for coal, wood, steel, health and housing. It's really amazing how detailed this game is!
As much as I want my people to live in comfort, there are not enough health centers and I need to sign this law to treat more people. This law doubles the capacity of health centers, but some people will be treated on the ground. Discontent will increase, but health is more important.
Everything was going well, I researched coal mining, I was building a steel factory and a coal mine. But I got this bad news, the first death in our community. Remember the person whose leg we amputated? He left a note on the table saying that he was useless this way and he didn't want to be a burden to people and he committed suicide. Really, man? I could have fed you and it wasn't a problem, I just wish you hadn't made that decision. We will miss you. Rest in peace.
I shared in my previous post that the bad news came one after the other, and so it did in the game. There was a compound called Winterfell where people other than us lived. When our scouts went there, they saw that the people there had died. When our people heard this, they forgot everything we had done so far and fell into great despair. "Come on guys, we are better than them". Why doesn't anybody say things like that?
I had to give people a purpose in life. Many times before I chose faith and spiritual strength. This time I decided to choose order and discipline. Discipline has always been something I have always loved and we need discipline if we want to survive!
So, while I was continuing to develop the city, a group of Londoners came into my life. As you can see on the left, there are now 12 people in the Londoners group. If we can't convince them to stay in 15 days they will leave us and try to go back to London, which is completely crazy. I'm sure those who leave will die, so I will do my best to reduce them to 0.
Fortunately, there is some good news. The automaton has arrived in the city and is ready to go.
I immediately sent it to work in the coal mine and decided to name this automaton Hive Engine. Isn't it awesome? hahaha I'm in love with this game.
The weather is going to get colder and colder and I have started research to replace the tents with huts to protect my people from the cold. I have also completed research to increase both the range and the power of the generator. We are ready for colder weather! I mean, hopefully.
We'd better stop here for today. Because the people in the cafe are looking at me to order more stuff and I don't want to drink anything. Also, the post is long enough. Thank you for reading it. I hope you liked it, let me know in the comments if you liked it. I am happy when people comment on my writing and I enjoy replying to them. It also encourages me to write. Take care and have a great day!
