Hi, guys!
Today I had my first teaching feedback on computer illustration courses. First of all, I want to note that I really liked the new teacher, Said.
If the previous one was rude and didn't really explain anything, Said copes with the teaching task perfectly well. After the feedback, I have no unresolved issues.
Since there are a lot of students, it takes a long time to get back. I listened to the first part, and listened until the moment when we got to my work.
I was pleasantly surprised that I did a great job with just one mistake. This does not mean that the course is too easy for me, it is rather that I carefully approached the task and tried very hard to do it well. I was very encouraged by this success, I hope that in the future it will be moderately difficult and pleasant for me to study.
The task was to draw your own shadows of the obyak, ignoring the falling and encircling. I think it will be a little more complicated further, but so far everything is great:
And now it's time for first full chapter of my book:)
"Gusts of wind tore the sails of a small boat, which had been battling the waves of the north sea for a week.
At the helm stood a young tiefling, skin red in the sun. A sailor's cocked hat wore a hornless head. Felix enjoyed every moment of the journey, and the rank of captain even more so. From time to time he scanned the companions with a stern gaze, hinting that he sees and controls everything. Some took it seriously, some amused it. There was no crew as such, only another man, clearly versed in nautical affairs, was tying ship ropes nearby.
The company gathered on the ship would have seemed strange to any normal person. Dwarf, clad in heavy armor, selflessly shared with the fish overboard with the contents of his stomach. The red beard was already soaked all over with salt and turned white, Bereznik this journey was not easy.
In the crow's nest, a girl pulled into a purple overalls, whose features and pointed fangs betrayed orcish blood, settled in her. Jane gazed intently at the endless horizon in search of land, periodically throwing back the black scythe, which the wind stubbornly threw in her face.
A huge eagle circled over the ship, from time to time diluting the sound of the waves with shouts. After an hour, this eagle will descend, fly up to the deck, envelop itself in a gray haze, and the foot of a man, tall, with brown hair pulled into a tail, with arms covered with tattoos and runes to the elbow, and strange eyes, will step aboard. Lars has one human eye, the other a wolf.
Two more stood at the stern of the bulwarks, at a decent distance from each other. A half-elf in baggy clothes, with a bow over his shoulder, counted the seagulls and got a different number each time. This did not bother Mark, in general there was little in this life that bother him. He only wondered if he had boarded the ship and glanced suspiciously at the tall elf standing on the other side of the stern.
He looked distractedly into the distance, thinking about something of his own. The wind ruffled his short-cropped black hair, fluttering the hem of his long black cloak. Damian had no questions about whether this was the ship. Is that the right company - yes.
The half-elf's suspiciously contemptuous gaze was not a secret for him, blue eyes noticed every little thing, constant vigilance had long become a habit. But for some reason this look was familiar to the magician for another reason - the silvery-lilac irises of the eyes. Heterochromia looked like splinters, or blossoming buds of unknown flowers around a black pupil.
The journey went quite smoothly, despite the fact that the sea was now rough, as were the people who lived in the surrounding lands.
Either way, the voyage took too long for some, especially for a dwarf who grumbled to himself about land and damn ships from the depths of the Abyss.
Felix decided it was time to moor somewhere and replenish supplies, food on the ship was running out.
The village in which they landed smelled through and through of fish. The hungry travelers hoped to find an inn, at worst, a tavern, and after only an hour of searching, luck smiled at them. Mark immediately began to flirt with the pretty hostess.
-And what is such a beauty doing in such a wilderness?
The woman smiled with satisfaction, giving the half-elf a promising look.
-I grew up here, my whole family is here, where else can I be? And you, as I see it, warriors ... ”She glanced sideways at Felix and Bereznik. The paladins nodded in unison.
-I am a warrior too, -Mark winked at her and stroked the shoulder of his bow, -Maybe I can win your heart?
-Maybe, and it will work, -the woman sat down next to the rogue, -You know, the village is restless now, and you look like people who could help.
-What's wrong? Who needs to be reassured?
-Something howls around, at night. They say some kind of beast. We sent several squads to investigate, but none returned.
The travelers looked at each other. A strange business, but it sounded interesting, at least more interesting than hanging around waiting for the unknown.
-I would like more details, -druid sat down at a table with Mark and the hostess, -First, let's at least get to know each other. I'm Lars.
"Ursula," the woman held out her hand for a kiss, but the druid did not seem to notice. But the half-elf noticed, and immediately pressed his lips to her.
-And your hands are magical.
-Yes, magic hands, maybe they will conjure us some food? Hungry as a wolf, the dwarf plopped down on the bench next to Lars.
-Sure. What do you prefer? Ursula asked.
-Looks like you have a fish town. Surely there are some seafood specialties.
The elf sitting next to him winced.
-And preferably something other than fish.
-There is a chicken. Will it suit you?
Damian nodded.
Ursula placed several jugs of beer and wine in front of them, then brought the promised food. After waiting for everyone to appreciate her cooking, she spoke again.
-Howling is heard mainly at night. The villagers have not let their children play alone for a long time. As I said, we have sent several squads to scout, but there are no skilled warriors in the village. Nobody came back, everyone was gone.
-Did you send the villagers with a pitchfork? And a few more times? The dwarf asked in surprise, -And why didn’t they turn to the capital for help?
Ursula shrugged.
-The powers that be do not care about our wilderness. The fact that howling among the rocks does not let their children sleep - and okay.
-Rocks? - Bereznik specified.
-Yes. Not far from here is a small ... And you can't call it a mountain range. So, a few caves. Ruins.
-The ruins of what? - Jane got into the conversation.
-There used to be gnomish mines, I think. But that was a long time ago.
-Well, -Mark finished his fish and leaned back on the bench, -Let's go and see. Let's figure it out.
-I said nobody came back. Will you really take on this?
-For your sake, dear - even a star from the sky, - the young man smiled seductively again.
-Why not, -Lars thoughtfully picking at the fish with a fork, -How - it's quite in my line.
-Maybe you need something? I am sure the locals will help everyone in their power.
-Do you have any medicine men in the village? We could use healing potions and healing ointments, just in case.
-The witch doctor was, but he died last year. But I have some supplies left.
She rose from the bench, went down to the basement, returned and placed two vials of reddish liquid on the table in front of the druid.
Jane immediately grabbed one and began to study it through the light.
-Is this a healing potion?
-Yes, it is.
The girl uncorked the stopper and sniffed.
-Smells strange, -the half-work wrinkled a neat nose, -Some disgusting.
-The medicine must be bitter, - Lars shrugged his shoulders, - Otherwise it won't help, - he also sniffed, but the smell of the potion was interrupted by some other, strangely familiar.
The young man looked around, trying to understand what had alerted him, but did not notice anything suspicious.
-Are you well versed in medicine? - the owner of the tavern again sat down next to the travelers.
-It is necessary, -said the druid, -You never know what you will have to deal with on a long journey.
His gaze lingered for a second on the mistress's neck, the amulet attracted attention. Pure gold, precious stones.
-An interesting thing. Is this a symbol of some god?
The amulet depicted an octopus entangling a stone in the center with tentacles.
-This is my inheritance, -said the woman, -All that is left to me from my parents.
Mark decided to make a third attempt to have a good evening.
-He so gracefully emphasizes the curve of your swan neck ... -he walked around Ursula from behind and put his hands on her shoulders.
-That's what, young man, -she pulled away a little, but not enough to break out of these half-embraces, -Although your attention is pleasant to me, nothing shines for you.
-Well, your will.
The half-elf removed his hands, and no one noticed the amulet from the tavern mistress's neck slowly disappearing into his sleeve.
After talking with the woman and finding out the details, they set off."
See you in the next post!
Love, Inber
