I wonder if your guest has dogs. Their hair can hang on clothes and a cat might pick up the scent. Or maybe it was the bats? Cats' hearing may be able to pick up their sounds if they took up in the rafters.

As for the baby bat, it's sad it had such a short life. As an offshore angler I've learned that no life ever goes to waste. Not even in death. Other life immediately starts feeding on it and starts the circle again from the very base compounds.

On the ocean, the circle of life is easier to see. It's sad and violent but glorious all the same. Nothing ever goes to waste on this good green earth.
