Ahhh, what a great day. The Porgies look fun to catch, especially with gear that's not too heavy. Our Calico (or kelp) bass have similar colors to the Sea Bass.

It may be a closer relative to our west coast Black Sea Bass, which are protected in our waters. How big do they get? Calico can get big, but a 12 pounder is a mama.

We have White Sea Bass that get enormous (not as heavy as the Black Sea Bass). Still, a 100 + pound giant isn't out of the question. I've seen a sixty pounder landed. Do you have any saltwater striper around? Cheers!
