Matthew 4:3-4 KJV - And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God(YHVH), command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God(YHVH).
So, let me see if I can understand this phenomena, we have one Bible and as I read into all the different denominations I see similarities to each using a portion of the Bible; While, ignoring the rest.
Acts 16:26-30 NKJV - Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. And the keeper of the prison, awaking from sleep and seeing the prison doors open, supposing the prisoners had fled, drew his sword and was about to kill himself. But Paul called with a loud voice, saying, “Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.” Then he called for a light, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
Lets come back to this passage above; so with exclusion, selective bible verses, and inventing new words and terminologies to create a new Church doctrine to benefit whom, and to bring glory to who?
Acts 17:29-31 NKJV - Therefore, since we are the offspring of God(YHVH), we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising(imagination). Truly, these times of ignorance God(YHVH) overlooked, but now commands(instruct) all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge(weigh) the world in righteousness(doing-right) by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”
Hold-on, did he just say that we will be measured against Yeshua(Jesus) the Light of the world, so what happened to Yeshua(Jesus) stepping in to take a substitution role for us before YHVH? OK, let’s pick backup with the conclusion of the question about salvation.
Acts 16:31-34 NKJV - So they said, “Believe on the Lord(Elohim) Jesus(Yeshua) Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Then they spoke the word of the Lord(YHVH) to him and to all who were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God(YHVH) with all his household.
OK, let’s do a recap of the events; the tempter wants a sign but is deflected by Yeshua's obedience to the same Torah spoken to Moses. Second, Paul says we must use Yeshua(Jesus) as our compass into doing what is right. And lastly, we have a jailor ready to take his own life because he assumed all the prisoners fled their jail cells, but Paul stop’s him and instructs him to believe in what Yeshua did for our sins and reads with them from the Torah; but I feel like somethings missing!
I John 3:1-2 NKJV - Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God(YHVH)! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God(YHVH); and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
Mark 8:34-38 NKJV - When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s(Torah or Mitzvah’s) will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
The Cross is figuratively exposure to death or said a different way means self denial while being obedient daily.

Torah = Hand lead instructions
Mitzvah = commandments or instructions listed in the Torah.
Gospel = to proclaim glad tidings to instruct men concerning the things that pertain to Christian(Christ-like) salvation.
Deuteronomy 8:1-3 NKJV - “Every commandment which I command you today you must be careful to observe, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land of which the Lord(YHVH) swore to your fathers. And you shall remember that the Lord(YHVH) your God(Elohim) led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments(Mitzvahs) or not. So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord(YHVH) .
