Bitcoin, as requested by the perpetrators of the bombing at Alam Sutera Mall, Wisnu Kumala's Leopard, began to be glimpsed because there was an element of anonymity. However, users of this cyber currency can still be tracked.
As reported widely, the motive for the bombing at Mal Alam Sutera was extortion. Leopard threatens mall management and demands 100 Bitcoin.
After the bomb exploded, the perpetrator then sent an extortion email to the mall management which contained a request to transfer some funds through Bitcoin. The mall also gave him 0.25 Bitcoin. From there, Leopard was finally caught by the authorities.
"Even though the perpetrator sends anonymous emails, but can still be tracked from the IP address used so that the perpetrator can be caught," explained Persadha Primary,
According to him, many people are interested in using Bitcoin because of its high exchange rate. Some online stores also have received Bitcoin as a payment instrument.
Bitcoin itself is a digital currency that can be used for transactions on the internet. In some countries abroad, this Bitcoin can be exchanged directly with cash.
"There is an anonymity element in using Bitcoin. Many criminals or criminal organizations use Bitcoin to carry out their modus operandi as well as money laundry, "said Pratama.
