What Is Hilo?
Hilo is an upcoming social media site geared toward the cryptocurrency community. It aims to be a platform for anybody with an interest in cryptocurrencies to come together to interact with each other, share information, and enhance their knowledge of cryptocurrency.

Who Is Behind Hilo?
The Hilo website provides little information about the startup aside from the names and pictures of the company’s prominent employees, advisors, and investors. Of course, that does provide us with a starting point to learn more. The website also contains a link to a LinkedIn page that tells us that Hilo is based in San Francisco.

The LinkedIn page also provides a brief description of Hilo, calling it the “only social dashboard that lets you follow along and invest in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies with friends and influencers.”

The founder of Hilo is a woman named Monica Puchner. Prior to Hilo, she served as the Vice President of Business Development for a company called CleverTap. Also, since 2012 she has worked as a consultant in San Francisco for startups in a number of industries, including those related to blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

While not listed as such on the Hilo website, her LinkedIn page lists a woman named Brit Morgan as the co-founder and COO of Hilo. According to her LinkedIn profile, she graduated from San Francisco State University with degrees in psychology and marketing. She also has work experience with a number of different companies as a consultant, strategies, and director of marketing.

How Token Feature Voting Works

It is anticipated that users with HILO will vote on new and future features to be developed
in the platform. Voting weight will be determined by the amount of HILO in a user’s wallet. During the voting period, users with a minimum of one HILO will be able to vote. The more HILO they hold, the more weight a user may give to a particular shared decision. It is
anticipated that voting will begin at the beginning of every quarter, and will last for 5 days. Users will be notified via email at the start and completion of each period during which they will be able to vote on which features will be added next. The evolution of the platform will be determined by token voting rights and the community of HILO token holders. The Tela
Network Foundation is committed to encouraging widespread community participation and incentivizing representative user feedback.

The following features are proposed additions to the Hilo platform based on beta testing
feedback from the Hilo Community. The Tela Network Foundation will submit these features
for consideration during the first voting period. The list of potential new features will
continue to grow with future iterations of user feedback, product development, and
quarterly voting rounds. The following features will be presented in the first round of voting:

Fantasy Crypto
Learning games offer users a fun and easy way to create virtual portfolios that track the
performance of crypto-assets without risking real life tokens or coins. Users can win
Leaderboard recognition and HILO by competing with one another to see who can structurea fantasy portfolio that gains the most value in the short-term (see Fantasy Crypto in theBehavioral Design section, below).

▪ Leaderboards
Leaderboards rank top users regarding such metrics as upvoted content, call
accuracy, fantasy crypto, and number of followers. (see Leaderboards section,
below).

▪ Direct Messaging
Encrypted direct messaging enables users to communicate directly with one another
on the platform. Users may respond to one another for free, or may charge a
HILO-denominated fee for each response.

▪ Group Chats, Private & Public
Along with public Newsfeed chats, users can chat with one another privately.
Conveners of private chats can charge other users HILO to join chats they convene.
