脡sta pel铆cula basada en hechos reales comienza contextualizando la historia de un tsunami mort铆fero que el 26 de diciembre de 2004 golpe贸 el sureste de Asia y que 茅sta pel铆cula trata de la real historia de una de las familias afectadas. Luego de 茅sto, un avi贸n volando en las nubes presenta a la protagonista, quien estaba leyendo un libro con hojas sueltas mientras llegaba a su destino. A su lado muestran a un ni帽o dibujando que parece ser su hijo, y del otro lado a su esposo el cual nervioso le pregunta si apag贸 la alarma de su casa antes de irse de viaje, a lo que la mujer responde que si. Despu茅s de varios chistes, una turbulencia los interrumpe y la mujer de asusta mucho y su esposo intenta tranquilizarla. Cuando anuncian que se coloquen los cinturones, otro hijo un poco m谩s grande viene con ella y le dice que Lucas, su otro hermano, no quiere hablarle. La madre se levanta r谩pidamente del asiento para que no siga alterado y le brocha el cintur贸n y se va al otro asiento con Thomas en medio del temblor del avi贸n y su nerviosismo. Intenta hablarle pero Lucas no le presta atenci贸n, pero ella le quita los aud铆fonos y le dice que deber铆a ser m谩s amable con su hermano ya que s贸lo estaba asustado por el aterrizaje. Lucas dice molesto que todo le asusta y bromea sobre que lo sac贸 de su madre.
El avi贸n aterriza con exito y llegan a Tailandia, mostrando el paisaje que hay hasta llegar al hotel. Al bajarse el botones le pregunta si es la primera vez de la familia en el hotel y al tener la afirmaci贸n del padre, les dice que es un lugar tranquilo a pesar de ser fiestas navide帽as y les da la bienvenida. Los llevan a su linda caba帽a y cuentan que vienen de Jap贸n ya que el hombre trabaja all铆 en una compa帽铆a y siempre tienen que mudarse a muchos lados y la madre dice que es doctora pero que por el momento s贸lo cuida a los ni帽os. Luego de arreglarse, van a una linda cena que termina con una cuenta regresiva de todos los hu茅spedes y lanzan globos de deseos sobre la playa.
En la ma帽ana el padre grabando con una c谩mara sigue a su esposa para entrar a la habitaci贸n de sus tres hijos, donde los despiertan con risas y cosquillas y los llevan hacia sus regalos de navidad, los ni帽os abren sus regalos con emoci贸n.
Momentos despu茅s, la familia va a la playa para jugar con los nuevos regalos y para disfrutar de sus navidades, brincan y juegan hasta que se van a bucear y luego de mucha diversi贸n, se van a dormir.
La ma帽ana siguiente comienza y se ve a Lucas y sus hermanos jugando Ping Pong mientras su madre pasa y va con su esposo, quien luego de mantener una conversaci贸n sobre su empleo con su esposa, se va a jugar con sus hijos y la deja sola.
Mientras juegan los cuatro en la piscina, la mujer se queda leyendo su libro y muestran a una barista que mientras licuaba un batido, la luz se va. Los ni帽os lanzan la pelota muy lejos y Lucas corre a buscarla, mientras que a la madre se le va volando una hoja de su libro y tambi茅n se va a buscarla ya que qued贸 pegada a un gran vidrio que estaba cerca, cuando de pronto nota que el vidrio comienza a temblar muy fuertemente y todo queda en silencio, las aves huyen y todas las personas en la piscina se quedan est谩ticas viendo c贸mo cada palmera del lugar una por una empiezan a caerse y una gran ola arrasa con una caba帽a que ten铆an al frente.
Todos empiezan a correr.
La madre le grita a su esposo que agarre fuerte a los ni帽os en la piscina, y Lucas, quien estaba en otro lugar, se lanza muy r谩pidamente a la piscina mientras se ve c贸mo todos los escombros y agua lo arrastran y lo hacen girar en la piscina. El padre hunde a sus dos hijos para protegerlos del golpe y la madre se aferra a su libro mientras toda la ola con madera, ladrillos, tierra y palmas caen sobre ella y rompen el gran ventanal de vidrio que hab铆a atr谩s.

This film based on true events begins by contextualizing the story of a deadly tsunami that struck Southeast Asia on December 26, 2004, and this film is about the true story of one of the affected families. After this, a plane flying in the clouds introduces the protagonist, who was reading a loose-leaf book while arriving at her destination. Next to her, they show a child drawing who seems to be her son, and on the other side, her husband who nervously asks her if she turned off the alarm at home before leaving for her trip, to which the woman answers yes. After several jokes, a turbulence interrupts them and the woman gets very scared and her husband tries to calm her down. When they announce that they should fasten their seat belts, another son, a little older, comes with her and tells her that Lucas, his other brother, does not want to talk to her. The mother quickly gets up from the seat so that he is no longer upset and fastens his seatbelt and goes to the other seat with Thomas amidst the shaking of the plane and his nervousness. She tries to talk to him but Lucas pays no attention, but she takes his headphones off and tells him that he should be nicer to his brother since he was just freaking out about the landing. Lucas angrily says that everything scares him and jokes that he got it from his mother.
The plane lands successfully and they arrive in Thailand, showing the scenery there until they get to the hotel. When they get off the bellboy asks if it is the family's first time at the hotel and having the father's affirmation, he tells them that it is a quiet place despite it being Christmas holidays and welcomes them. They are taken to their nice cabin and they tell that they come from Japan since the man works there in a company and they always have to move to many places and the mother says that she is a doctor but for the moment she only takes care of the children. After getting dressed up, they go to a nice dinner that ends with a countdown of all the guests and they release wish balloons on the beach.
In the morning the father filming with a camera follows his wife into their three children's room, where they wake them up with laughter and tickles and lead them to their Christmas presents, the children open their presents with excitement.
Moments later, the family goes to the beach to play with the new gifts and to enjoy their Christmas, they jump and play until they go snorkeling and after much fun, they go to sleep.
The next morning begins and Lucas and his brothers are seen playing Ping Pong while their mother passes by and goes to her husband, who after having a conversation about his job with his wife, goes to play with his children and leaves her alone.
While the four of them play in the pool, the woman stays reading her book and they show a barista who while blending a smoothie, the light goes out. The children throw the ball far away and Lucas runs to look for it, while the mother flies a leaf of her book and also goes to look for it since it was stuck to a large glass that was nearby, when suddenly she notices that the glass begins to shake very strongly and everything is silent, the birds flee and all the people in the pool are static watching how every palm tree in the place one by one begin to fall and a large wave sweeps away a hut that was in front of them.
Everyone starts to run.
The mother yells to her husband to grab the children tightly in the pool, and Lucas, who was elsewhere, very quickly dives into the pool as you see all the debris and water sweep him up and spin him around in the pool. The father sinks his two children to protect them from the blow and the mother clings to her book as the whole wave with wood, bricks, dirt and palms falls on her and breaks the large glass window behind.
