The problem comes in when every company, celebrity, influencer, website, etc suddenly has a coin. Usually the way tech gets adopted is that everyone think they are important enough to jump in. Remember the late 90s when "Everyone needs a website!" happened?
How often do you go to pepsi's website or their social media account.
A few companies and celebrities will do this well. Starbucks will probably kill it here since if you're a starbucks customer, you probably go in the store twice a day and use the app. Tesla certainly could do well since it has that culture you mentioned and a tesla is such a huge investment and identity marker. Your regular grocery store or stores who have successful point systems could do well.
Ultimately though, once the novelty wears off, 95% of the tokens that come out will just end up being wallet cluttering digital junk you sell off for a few cents when you remember you have it.
