I was walking across the country and found myself in a heatwave in Virginia. I spied this little bit of shade on a long and mostly shadeless country road. I sat and pondered the heat that was ahead of me while noticing the calm and quiet surroundings.
I had just fed a horse my last granola bar and was looking forward to a resupply in the next town. When I finally made my way up the road, I was welcomed by a local swimming hole with waterfalls to boot!
