Its always good to have a role model, they serve as motivation for you to achieve your goals or succeed quicker than expected, remember those who you call your role model or mentor today were once a mentee but the only difference is time.
Being focused and determined is a good thing but some people got tired on the way due to the fact that they lacked mentorship or they had no one to look up too. There are always different role model for every aspect of life as long as every one of it leads to success.
To start with in football my role model is Cristiano Ronaldo, in politics...Engr Seyi Makinde, in music...Davido, in business success ...Mr Obi Cubuna and lots more and more but few to mention.
Role model servers as an ignition to move closer to your success, though people are making it without no role model or mentor, but trust me they would have made it quicker if they had someone who they listen or look up to.
