I totally agree with you. Made a post about the exact same issue right after hf19. This will not end well. Upvoted took a down swing and self upvoting is now the new trend. Curation is just not enough

@papa-pepper As it stands steemd has a 500 post limit to fetch, this could also be extreme for a server to handle, the steemjs currently fetches a limit of 100 (this would be on the client side), and also

Yes some sort of new display should be implemented, the refresh rate and the tags display would require some sort of rework to accomodate all the new postings.
