My name is Ikorm Ogar, a Nigerian Visual Artist Who Loves Telling Stories Through Art.
I am excited to join the Hive community through Ecency, and I can't wait to meet amazing people, share my creative journey, learn from others, and build genuine friendships here.
Let me tell you a little about myself!
I am a contemporary visual artist specializing in hyperrealistic drawings. Yes, you heard that right!😄 I create detailed portraits using ordinary ballpoint pens, transforming simple lines, dots and strokes into realistic images filled with emotions, stories and meaning.
My journey with art began when I was a child. I started drawing at about five years old and over the years, my love for art has continued to grow. Interestingly, my journey was not always easy. Growing up, I didn't have an art teacher to guide me, so I had to learn, practice, experiment and find my own. Today, I hold a First Class Honours degree in Fine and Applied Arts (Painting) from the University of Benin, Nigeria.
For me, art is much more than creating beautiful pictures. It is a language through which I express emotions, tell stories, celebrate African identity, culture and draw attention to important social issues. I am particularly interested in how realistic art can communicate human experience that words we sometimes struggle to express.
Although ballpoint pen drawing is my specialty, I also explore painting and mixed media. I enjoy experimenting with different mediums and discovering new ways to communicate ideas through visual art.
Beyond creating art, I am also an art educator and the founder of Ikorm Creative Hands (ICH) Art Studio, where I share my knowledge and passion for art with others. I believe that creativity can grow when people are willing to learn, practice and encourage one another.
What You Can Expect From Me on Hive
I plan to share some of my artworks, including finished drawings, works in progress and a glimpse into my creative process. I will also share stories behind some of my pieces, the lessons I have learnt as an artist and perhaps a few tips for anyone interested in drawing and painting.
I hope my work inspires someone to pick up a pen or pencil and start creating, regardless of their current skill level or background.
But honestly, I'm not here just to post my artworks and disappear! 😂
I'm also here to make friends!
I'd love to connect with artists, photographers, writers, musicians, digital creators, art collectors and anyone who appreciates creativity. I'm interested in meeting people from different parts of the world, learning about their cultures, exchanging ideas supporting one another, and building meaningful relationships.
