In middle part of the year 2016, a strange occurrence happened to me on a particular day, and about some time later that same day, something not so good was happened in my parents' house. The events on that day changed my perspective and belief on the existence of omen. This is what transpired on that day.
I woke up one morning in my apartment at school and unlike me; I was very weak and feeling sick. I stayed so long on my bed trying to gather strength to get up, but however, I found myself rolling from one side the bed to another. After some time, I was able to shake off the weakness and get up from the bed to prepare for school. As usual, I went about my daily school activity. I struggled to walk to my lecture room, hoping not to be late for the first lecture of the day. Incidentally, the lecturer did not come on that day and the lecture didn't hold. I waited for the next lecture and funny enough, it also did not hold. The day for me didn't go quite well as I was disappointed, I had wasted the day at school. No lecture held that day, I just whiled away my time; and that rarely happened. I managed to carry myself to the house, very angry that I had wasted my time and day.
Later on that night, while I was in the kitchen in my apartment preparing dinner, I left my door open and I did not know that an unwelcomed visitor had entered my room. Immediately I came out of the kitchen, I was welcomed by the strange visitor in my room it was a bat.
I lived in one of the apartments of a 14 apartment bungalow building, built in such a way that there are seven apartments on each side of the building with a passage or hallway in between, and of all the apartments in the building, and despite the position of my apartment at the end of the hallway, a bat found its way to the apartment.

The bat was flying around in circles in my room. I then picked up a book and started swinging it severally towards the bat in a bid to chase it out, but I was unsuccessful. It had refused to fly out through the door. So I went to close the door and this time decided to kill it. I picked up my drawing board and started pursuing the bat round the room to kill it but I could not because it was quite faster than me. So I decided to call the neighbours to help. With the bat still hovering around my room, I left my door open while I went to call them. But before we could have gotten back to my room, the bat had gone away. We did not see it leaving my door and neither did we see it in the corridor or the hallway. It had disappeared, or so we thought. But the truth is that I did not see when the bat entered the house and also when it left. It was an uncanny incident because I didn't see how any bat could mistakenly fly into my room. I was scared that night, but I did not let the fear get the best of me, so I assumed that it had gone away through somewhere else maybe underneath the net of my window or maybe we just did not see it in the corridor. So I went back to my apartment, said my prayers and went off to sleep that night.
On the morrow of that day, I had forgotten what happened the previous night until I received a call from my parents at home, telling me that something bad had happened the previous night.
I was told that my mum's car was stolen the night before, the same night that I had a bat as a visitor. She narrated that she had parked her car in her usual parking spot that night but on waking up the next morning, she found out that the car was no longer there. It had been stolen and the thief was not caught. She however told me that one of her neighbours saw someone driving the car away late in the night, in the company of a passenger, but thought the driver and the passenger were my siblings probably diving late in the night due to an emergency; and as a result of that did not accost them.
When I got the news, I did not think that there was any connection whatsoever between both incidents that had happened the previous night at my apartment and my parents house. But later on, I told my friend what had happened the previous night concerning the theft of my mothers car and the encounter that I had with the bat, and he said that both events were not independent or coincidental, but that at there was a connection between the bat that came into my apartment and the theft that happened in my parents' house that day. He said that the bat was apparently an omen. An omen that something bad would happen, this he said is especially based on the fact that I didn't know how the bat entered the house; neither did I know how it left. He went on to explain the significance of the creature and said that it signifies bad things. He further said that maybe if I had not let the bat escape, that the thief would have probably not escaped; that my allowing the bat to escape was an acceptance to whatsoever event the bat may have represented.
I gave it a thought though and truthfully, a part of me believed it. That the bat went away without we seeing it pass through the corridor alone is a mystery yet to be explained. It is enough to say, the bat had disappeared.
Thanks @jerrybanfield for giving me the opportunity to share this piece. The event appears to be supernatural to me
