7th place finish in Splinterlands tournament
I decided to enter a couple of tournaments this weekend. Looking through the tournaments there were 8 or 10 available that I could enter. I was wanting to practice using Chaos Legions cards in battles.
Types available
There are generally several types available that range from
- Anytime 24hrs/round
- Specific start times
- Start when full.
- League max levels (Novice, Bronze, Silver, etc.)
- Deck specific (Chaos Legions, Wild, Modern, etc.)
Requirements for entry
Many tournaments don't have any requirements other than cost.
Several of the tournaments require that you have a specific amount of SPS staked to enter.
I see for the SPS.tournament hosted ones that I need staked SPS.
600 SPS for Novice = $70.00
1185 SPS for Bronze = $138.64
This happens to be the first use case for SPS that shows me a reason to stack them. Otherwise I prefer to buy cards to improve my deck vs getting 1-2 vouchers per month.
Refunds of entry fees
Several of the tournaments refund the entry fees. Generally you have to join their discord channel and request to be reimbursed.
@munchiesmcgee refunded my entry fee for the WOO tournament.
Place to practice different formats
Playing with only Chaos Legions cards is challenging. So some of these let me practice for brawls that include only Chaos Legions.
7th place
In one of the tournaments I made it through several rounds and ended up placing 7th.
payouts
The splinterlands system paid me when the tournament finished.
Closing thoughts
Tournament are fun to play and they challenge your skill at playing against other people.
You will see the professional players there that take the top slots in most tournaments. So set your sights on getting to the payout ranks. Also Novice and Bronze Chaos Legions only tournaments limit the cards that someone else has vs your deck.
