For the last 10 or so years, there has been a cry that Christ is being stripped out of Christmas. While this thought has never been expressed by these lips, it is a sensitive subject among non-believers and believers alike.
According to the Christian tradition, Jesus the Christ was born at Midnight on the 24th of December. Occuring in a "manger" in Bethelhem, to a virgin named Mary.
Its is well documented that midnight is the hour where our physical reality is closely influenced by lets just say forces above. This is widely known in mystic circles as most incantations and or ceremonies are performed at midnight.
Second, the date of December 25th is a winter solstice, before Christianity it was a date where druids (drudh) where initiated into the school. It is the same day Tammuz;Odin; and many other gods are born to virgins. Really, Christianity is weaving old mysteries from the lost "days of old" as referenced in the Bible.
Today, many xtians adorn a mistletoe to a door frame. And Kiss another whom comes walking under it as well. But, know that ancient druids would climb the oak tree which was sacred to them in their robes of white. As they climbed would cut this "object" from the tree with a golden scythe. They where solemn as they cut the sacred object from the tree.
In ancient Greece, the god Atys sacrificed himself below a pine tree. Atys is worshipped by pine trees and symbolizes death and resurrection (March 25th).
Really, when Christmas is approaching its hard to accept the fact it is due to Christ. For, the purpose of Christ was to perpetually incorporate these ancient rites and ceremonies. Its interesting to state that many believed that the new testament never accredited a thing to Jesus specifically. That after the compilation of documents the name was accredited to him as the source of various works.
Historically (again according to some), Jesus was born in a grotto or cave just outside of Bethlehem. During or shortly after magi (actual number is not stated; but the number three is given due to the three Logos/Kings/Gods?) It's interesting that a magi presents myrrh as a gift. Myrrh was used in ceremonies as an embalming agent, frankenscense and myrrh are both resin/ saps that come from cutting the bark.
Myrrh is most likely presented as if to say that the subject will be reborn without passing through the gates of death. Frankenscense to symbolize the outstrecthing of hands to a teacher..
