I have my fair criticism of ETH, but once ETH2.0 is released, if they manage to lower the fees significantly and fix the bottlenecks on the network it will be back at being “king of smart contracts” simply because it is easier and more comfortable to develop for it.
ETH still has the best, both quantitatively and qualitatively, developer tools, APIs and integrations. 2 years ago there was huge demand for ETH development, it has shifted away only because of the fees, the demand now is for chains with “ETH-like compatibility” (basically Ethereum forks that are compatible with the same tools from Ethereum) that is what leads me to believe people want to develop on Ethereum directly, they just can’t afford for now.
