She struggled to be liked, welcomed, loved, or at least appreciated, yet none has been accorded to her by the people she thought (expected) to become a part of her family. She wept in silence as they continually made her feel unaccepted and small.
Why would they do such a thing to her? She was a decent girl; educated; good-mannered; her family has a good reputation; she traveled the world; she makes things easier; she loves, she cares, laughs, and smiles genuinely; and yes, had money too!
Well, that's life and in the world, there are people who will not like you no matter how good you are or no matter what you do. They simply decided to not welcome you into their lives. But that is okay.
Unfortunately, several precious years of her life have gone by. She has wasted them trying to prove who she was, even doing things that had no meaning to her, and losing herself in the process, just because she was longing for their love. Or was it that she wanted to please them? Wait, are those things not the same?
Ahh, what has life gotten her into?
Thankfully through the help of her very own fairy godmother, she learned her way out of that misery. But why on earth did life let her waste years in suffering when the solution was just right within her?
Such an irony, yeah?
Let me answer that on her behalf, I am her godmother after all.
The world she lived in for those years was cruel and painful. It pricked her heart and soul to the point that she lost her sense of self, clouded her reason, and did things she was not really happy about. The good thing is that she has taken back control of her life. Now, she only remembers those past experiences with little to no bitterness at all.
Really?
Really... truly... honestly... Let's just say she learned her lessons very well, and that she gave herself more importance and love than waiting for others to give them to her. She learned too, thanks to me, that rejection is always part of life and that she shouldn't be hard on herself when faced with one. And you know what? She finally found her peace.
Just like that?
A big fat YES! As simple as that! But you may also ask, "why is it that people don't do the same thing if it's that easy?"
Well, it's because people are stubborn! They complicate simple things! Like wanting to be accepted and to please others too, and in so doing, they waste their short life trying to prove themselves and their value to the wrong set of people, when in fact, they can just move on and find others who will readily accept, value, and appreciate them for who they really are.
Why do you say so?
Well, if you don't like something, change it! It's nobody's business but only yours.
Do you hate the taste of your latte? Well, throw it away and get something else! Say, macchiato, maybe? Cappucino or perhaps, tea?
Somebody makes you feel bad? Oh, come on now, just go away and leave him be! Seek a different route and find people who make you, 'YOU.'
That definitely sounded easy, errr, simple I mean.
It is! But I tell you, it only becomes difficult when you are thinking about what others might say or think about you.
It is worth remembering to just do what makes your heart and soul glow, be with those who truly care and push you toward your growth, and who will dance the tide with you no matter what. Don't ever think about what others might say about you. Just keep doing what you do best and the right ones will come along and take the journey with you.
It is your duty to BE yourselves, whether other people like it or not. And it goes without saying that you have to love and take good care of 'you' first before you can truly love and take good care of others.
