You have spoken the truth. There is risk involved in each aspect of life. With the experience you learn to trust your self, to trust in your capacity to overcome what ever could arise. You become a better planner and a better responder. You even get use to the fear of the first experience...
But remember, not everybody responds the same in a fearful situation. You must overcome and act.
