English Translation: The king sends one on an errand, Lo, the flood has caused the river to overflow. It is impossible to decline the King's bidding, yet suicidal to enter the strong current river.

USAGE

This adage is used to provoke deeper thinking when faced with a dilemma. It is often recited while in a confusing situation that begs for way out.

FURTHER EXPLANATION

Many times in life we are faced with situations that seems like there is not going to be a way out, oftentimes though, these situations naturally resolve themselves.

Personally, when I’m faced with situations where I think there is no way out, I allow my fear factor to first subside, then I will think about options available in such an impossible situation, and be sure I have really tried putting things in perspective, after which I’ll go for the options that can make the worst case a little better and wait for the event to unfold, while praying to whom I believe in.
