I saw someone write about her Zealy experience last month and all I could do was laugh from the sidelines because I couldn’t relate to her story until recently when I joined the October Zealy campaign.

Initially, I didn’t want to join because I hate stress, anything that would make me over-exert myself I run away from it but when I came online and saw almost all my friends doing the Zealy campaign, the prize pool and the September winners I said to myself “Laziness not this time” I put on my Zealy boot and zealed away.

Now, nobody prepped me on all the tasks beforehand, Nobody told me I would have to sacrifice my sleep, Nobody told me I would have to be patient, and Nobody told me I would have to be a timekeeper! Nobody! Nobody!

Ever since I graduated from school and stopped taking exams, I don't think I have ever seen myself in such a tight corner as I have been these past few days of joining the campaign and trying to win a good share of the 5,000 HBD prize pool in the ongoing zealy campaign. The most funny and depressing part is that I'm not even sure I would make it to the top 30 on the leaderboard as only those Hiveans are entitled to the prize pool and Hiveans are resilient!

My first challenge started with threads; we were asked to copy the URL of our threads to submit as proof of the task. After I made the threads, they disappeared into thin air, I refreshed the page close to 30 times but I couldn't find anything, I started sweating, even when the fan was on. I hissed several times, turned my phone off, and turned it on a couple of times until threads started working, only for it to stop working again while I was still trying to thread, I had to repeat the process again until it started working.

Now whenever I want to thread, I call on the god of threads to not steal my threads, has it been answering my prayers? Sometimes yes other times it punishes me mercilessly!

I'm currently at number 55 on the leaderboard and I don’t know if I will ever make it to the top 30, so every day, I pray that the current toppers on the leaderboard sleep and wake up when I am done with my task as time is of great essence.

My most embarrassing moment during this campaign was when I joined the Twitter space and we were asked to engage, since I was a novice, I went to the comment section on Twitter to drop a handful of powerful comments, thinking I had done the right thing, I went back to bed only for me to wake up and discover that I was supposed to drop those comments in the threadcast. I was so pained, I don’t know if it was my sleepy eyes that were performing the magic but I know I was doing rubbish that day.
To make matters worse my friend called me by 5 a.m. After explaining everything to her she started telling me sorry countless times and that was how it triggered a few drops of tears from my eyes. Thinking about it now, I feel so stupid, imagine shedding tears because you were frustrated and didn’t get something right, oh lord I need to toughen up!

One time, the space on X started when I was in the market. The rule of that particular task was that attendance to the space was compulsory and we had to listen to the keyword Aka magic word, I checked my bag for my AirPod only to realize I had forgotten it in the office, how could I listen to this magic word when I was in a noisy market, I thought to myself and did the only thing I could do and that was holding the phone and listening to the space.

Oh boy! You needed to see how I glued my phone to my ears listening to the space while walking to and fro and negotiating prices in the market. I said a silent prayer to God to protect my phone so the “big guys” in the market don’t forcefully collect my phone.

Constantly refreshing the quest page to see if there are new quests is my forte, every 5 minutes I refresh the page, to a point where I refreshed and they showed me a blank page where “no user found” was boldly written, ladies and gentlemen my heart SANK! Or is it setting my alarm for 1 a.m. to do one of the tasks and my alarm chose that day to sleep instead of doing its job?

The recent habit I have formed is whining to my friends in their DMs and telling them I want to give up on the campaign and those crazy fellows will first laugh out really hard before motivating me.
