Ladies and gentlemen of this great platform permit me to re-introduce myself, My name is Ibinabo the girl who cannot dance to save her life😂😂

Half of my friends are dancers, I don’t know if I got skipped when the talent was being distributed or if I was asleep when the distribution was going on either way I know I was left out.

There are two things I know I suck at in this life and I do not need any soothsayer to tell me, they are; dancing and understanding Maths

The interesting thing about me is that I appreciate dancers a lot, I follow so many dancers on my TikTok and Instagram accounts, and I appreciate the art, not being able to dance but seeing people do it effortlessly is a sight to behold.

It’s funny how I can vibe to a piece of music when seated, I can shake my head and the rest part of my body when seated but once I stand up, I have nothing to bring to the table😂 I think most people are like that, when they are seated they are mad dancers but once you stand up all those skills vanish into thin air leaving you high and dry.

When I was a little girl my aunt would always take me, my siblings, and my cousins to birthday parties and they would always win prizes, especially my cousin Ibiye, that girl is gifted, she’d win almost all the prizes for the various dance competitions, there was me, lost in the audience, the greatest spectator of all times, taking in everything happening.

After we get home the next thing was to unpack our party packs, everybody would always have more gifts than me and yes I was totally used to it.

Now that I am all grown up, my friends have all given up on me, they don’t invite me to parties anymore because I would end up pressing my phone till the end of the party, yes I am no fun, I am a party pooper and I am aware of that already🙈

A few months ago I attended a friend’s bridal shower and we were asked to play a game, the game involves naming random things or concepts, and each player takes a turn to name a concept or thing, if you fail at any round you are required to take a shot or dance for some minutes and yours truly did not like any of the two conditions so my winning instincts kicked in.

I was always escaping each round and finally won, the girls got tired and insisted I drink or dance, you needed to see how the warrior in me came out 🤣 I continued to ask them if I was the cause of them failing the game, we kept on arguing until they gave up and moved on to the next activity on the list, in my head I was like “pheeew! That was close”.

This post was fueled by the thinking session I had yesterday when I was bored out of my mind.

I can't dance to save my life so how do I dance on my wedding day? How do I escape this? I have been asking myself this question countless times and I have still not gotten the answer that I need.

Surely I can stick to the slow and intimate songs and dance slowly with my partner as that does not need too much body movements but what about my audience? In this part of the world, some Afro beats music needs to be played, it is used to usher in the couple. The family, friends, and members of the audience also join the couple in their entrance until they get to their seats and honestly, slow and intimate music does not totally cut it.

I know I have to do what makes me happy but regardless I am so getting a dance instructor 8 months before my wedding to prep me for my big day and I sure as hell will learn a thing or two before the dance classes are over, so help me God😄

Do you also suck at dancing? please let me know in the comment section.

Thanks for stopping by
Loads of Love🥰🥰
