Happy New Year 2020! I hope you all had a spectacular celebration. We had a quiet one, but it was nonetheless satisfying. 2019 was truly a great year for me and my daughter. I'm claiming now that 2020 will be just as great! _
Before the New Year, I came across this post by @shadowspub, The Value Of Writing Prompts And A Place To Publish Them In 2020. I thought I'd try something new, so I signed up for the email list.
There are several reasons for joining. Foremost is I would love to improve on my writing skills. With that, I would love to be able to practice on my writing on a daily basis. As much as I would love to do daily freewrite, I'm the type of writer who thinks thoroughly and collects my thoughts first before putting them into writing. I also do a lot of pauses and stops, and I like to reread my work before I continue on. For this reason, I don't find time limits very effective for me.
I actually liked the idea of Prompt A Day. I will do my very best to keep up daily. I have received my prompts for today, and that is why I'm writing this now. I'm also sharing them here in case more people would get to read this and would also like to join in. (You could click on the original article and sign up for the email.)

I like the idea of having a mentor, but I also know that I'm quite effective learning things on my own. I won't mind getting a pointer or two in order to improve my work. At the present, I usually seek my daughter's opinion on some of my writings. Sometimes, she gives me suggestions on what to write, esp. when I get stumped on what to share. I'm grateful for that.
Of all the prompts, I find two that are quite challenging for me. These are the 'fiction prompt' and the 'reading challenge.' I'll do my best, though, if I could come up with something or perhaps I could wait for more 'fiction prompts' and combine them. Now that's a thought. As for the reading challenge, I will need to set aside some time for reading. There's still time as it runs for two - three weeks. Cool!
I think I would post the weekly gratitude prompt on my main blog. That would definitely fit the theme. As for the journal/blogging prompt, my answer would be to go into business or start up something home-based so I could have more control of my time. That's another thought I would need to take note of. Perhaps I could explore deeper into it.
For now, I would consider Prompt A Day as my mentor. I can't wait to start working on the other prompts. Also, now I have something more to look forward to in my mailbox. Stay tuned for more.
