Photos featured are from my collection. Our visit to the island of Corregidor.
It's the 29th day of Prompt A Day challenge by @shadowspub. I still cannot believe it that we are down to the last two days of January. I pray that February will be kinder to us all.
Today's word prompt: unwritten combines so well with the journal/blogging prompt: Where is the most inspiring place you've ever been?
I'm not a history buff, but I did enjoy the subject in school. I still enjoy learning about it from time to time. I most especially love visiting historical places.
This story is mostly unwritten except on the pages of my journals. I don't believe that I had a travel journal back then. Plus, since I had to have a fresh start on my main blog, our adventure to Corregidor Island may have all been lost, except that we have lots of photos.
We've read about this place during History class, but I believe that very few have actually been to this place.
It truly is worth visiting, as you get to learn more how the soldiers fought hard for freedom during World War II. This was the last fort before the country fell under Japanese occupation. The ruins now serve as a memorial to all the brave soldiers who fought and lost their lives during the war.
I have always appreciated history lessons, as I believe we can learn a lot from the mistakes of the past. Once we do, it is only then that we can build a better future for later generations. May this post be a primer to a more detailed post in the near future.
