In the beginning two weeks of MCO, life was relaxing as it was also school holiday, so my eldest practically just had fun everyday, totally not touching his books at all. Then, when government decided to extend the MCO, my teacher-nature side sank in. What about his school syllabus? What about his education? Gradually, the teachers were asked by Education Minister to set up Google Classroom for the kids, followed by Zoom online class everyday.
That is when my lifestyle of already-packed-schedule becomes even more packed. Everyday is like rush hour, one thing led to another without much break. There are many arrangement and communication in between parents and teachers, so on and so forth.
For the past two weeks, my eldest son has been living his daily life between homework via Google Classroom, and Zoom sessions with school teachers (of course alot of play time too). When he has Zoom session, I prefer to sit through with him in case he needs any technical help whatsoever. In the meantime, I ensure I prepare simple relaxing activities for my 2nd son. Let me show you today's activities for my 6-year-old. With his past medical and health issue, he is quite delayed in his learning abilities, so we had decided to homeschool him.
It took him weeks to be able to spell his name, and today just simple activity to locate his name's alphabet. He asked are we going to spell his full name, when I said 'No', he phew-ed a sound of relief. Jansen Zephaniah Wong Thean Yin. Haha. Don't ask me why such a long name, it is the father's idea.
This one I learned from another mother at Instagram who also homeschools her children. I find it cute and adorable, most importantly, simple, fun and relaxing. Jansen loves this a lot! He even asked me to draw more faces next time.
We know he still needs to brush up his fine motor skills so cutting is best, as he doesn't really keen on playing playdough, though I will keep encouraging him. Today, he can maneuver the scissors better to follow the line more accurately. Yay for such accomplishment! I can see his confidence being boosted up, which he really needs it at the moment.
Lastly, he said he wants to do some maze activity, he loves this the most and can go pages and pages if we don't stop him. He received this book two years ago but didn't start as he was not able to grip pencil at all that time. And we were busy teaching him chewing and swallowing, so yup, hence the delay.
