Last night was a disappointing night for all Barcelona supporters and culers all around the world. Barcelona faced Bayern Munich away from home in their second Champions League group stage match last night, the Catalan suffered another defeat from the German side at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern won by two goals to nil, goals scored by Lucas Hernandez and Leroy Sane in the second half of the match. Barcelona dominated the first half, with possession and chances created but was poor in finishing their chances.
I am still trying to figure out what happened to Lewandoski because he had a lot of chances to score but failed to find the goalpost was he missing Bayern Munich that he forgot to find the goalpost? And this cost the team in the second half, Bayern had few chances but was able to turn it into a goal.
This match was personal for me because Bayern Munich had caused Barcelona a lot of humiliation in the past, the 8-2 win and the 3-0 both home and away in the group stage of last year's Champions League competition. Culers all around the world wanted a win against Bayern Munich so bad because we believe the team Xavi has assembled was ready to take the fight to Bayern.
When Xavi(Barcelona manager) was interviewed about the match this is what he had to say “The difference between us and Bayern is that they don’t forgive in front of goal, The result is not a reflection of the entire match. But this is the Champions League. If you miss chances, you will end up paying that. We messed up. This defeat is a step backwards, I’m mad because we should have won. We played a match to win. Lewandowski missed chances, Pedri got two, Raphinha from outside the box… this is disappointing and unfair.”Source
Barcelona can't turn back time and correct their mistake, all they have to do now is learn from it and keep a cool head. When Bayern Munich comes to Camp Nou on the 26th of October for the second leg they should make them pay. I do not doubt that Barcelona will compete in the UCL and other competitions this season, Forca Barca.
