The Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument in Wiltshire, England. It consists of a ring of standing stones, with each standing stone around 13 ft high, 6 ft 11 in wide and weighing around 25 tons. There are also several hundred burial mounds in the area and land surrounding Stonehenge.
Stonehenge holds great religious significance for Neo-Druidry. In 1905 there was a mass initiation of Druids held by the Ancient Order of Druids at Stonehenge. They were said to have worn white robes and fake beards during the initiation. Any ritual use is now restricted. As a result, Druids have erected Stonehenge-type monuments in other places around the world.
Now this one is an incredible experience. Many people are not a fan of seeing rocks... but I absolutely loved it. It almost felt magical being there because of its rich history and all sorts myths. It's ridiculous seeing how many myths there are and what kinds of myths. Here are a couple funny ones:
Others claim that the stones are designed to be some sort of cosmic portal, perhaps to other dimensions or realities. It's said that Stonehenge is a sound resonator that when a sound is played at the right frequency and the right placement it's supposed to have an effect. Maybe a portal to another dimension or a (alien) base.
Perhaps Stonehenge was something like an ancient team-building exercise. According to the University College London's Pearson, the beginning of the site's construction coincides with a time of increased unity among the Neolithic people of Britain. Perhaps inspired by the natural flow of the landscape, which seems to connect summer solstice sunrise and winter solstice sunset, these ancient people may have banded together to build the monument.
There are many more funny myths and/or theories about Stonehenge. There is no definitive proof or concrete evidence of what Stonehenge is suppose to be. The most common theories are:
A religious place to worship
It was used for human sacrifice
It was a place of burial and cremation
And most people agree that it was built between 2000 and 3000 BC.
All these theories, ideas, and myths is what makes this place so magical. It's fascinating to have such an important monumental piece and no one can really identify how it got here or why. You can basically create your own little story. If you have the chance to visit Stonehenge, do so. Just take a look at it, walk around it and take a few pictures. It's not what you see that is incredible, it's the history and the ideas behind it that makes it so cool.
