Exodus 3:4-5 says
"And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. 3:5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground."
Shoes are part of normal dressing. Shoes are not evil. So why take them off? In scriptures, shoes stand for two things. First, shoes are a symbol of son-ship. In the days of old, only children wore shoes. Servants never wore shoes. In Luke 15:17-24, when the prodigal son came to himself, he went back to his father's house expecting to be treated as a servant. The father, however, received him back as a son; he gave him clothes and shoes. The second example is found in Ruth 4:7. In those days, signing of contract is not binding unless somebody takes off his shoe and gives them to the other person.
Why then did God say that moses should take off his shoes?
God was telling Moses that He left His throne to come discuss with him, therefore Moses also had to come down to zero level by having contact with the earth. This is an act of humility. God wanted Moses to assume the position of a servant. Philippians 2:5-11 shows how Christ humbled Himself and became a man, so much so that He became obedient to death. He went down before He started to go up; He took seven steps down and God raised him seven steps up. God wants us to follow in this example of Christ, you have to let go of your Pride in order to have an intimate encounter with God
2 Peter 1:4 says you are invited to be partakers of his divine nature provided you have escaped the corruption that is in the world. However, to have direct contact with electricity for instances, the insulator must go. Isaiah 59:1-2 says sin is an insulator:
"Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear."
Many I'd us have prayed for healing. Anointing, breakthrough's and open doors, yet, there there are no results because of the insulators in our lives. In James 4:6, the Bible clearly states that God resists the proud. Putting off your shoes implies getting rid of any sin that can hinder a direct contact with God. When you can constantly have direct contact with God, you are on your way to getting rid of pride completely.
